The truth is, I think, I can not!
Choose any argument that they do and that can easily be rejected.
First let's three excuses one at a time:
1) Marriage is an American institution and must be protected to be only between a man and a woman, "You're talking about 50% divorce rate? It is far from being an institution. Moreover, whenever two drunks can marry in a Drive through wedding chapel in Las Vegas is a very low ground on which to build and institution
2) Marriage is a gift from God and must be preserved: Did you talk about separation of Church and State. See the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States.
3) The marriage is for procreation / Children: While marriage licenses should be given to fertile couples, and those who are paralyzed, or women who experienced menopause can not marry because can not bear children.
4) Gay marriage will undermine the American Society: View the state of Massachusetts. Gay marriage law has been there almost two years. There was no destruction of the society there. The streets are not running with blood, the sky did not fall – life goes on!
The concept of "separate but equal has not withstood collection Constitutional, and will not be here.
